Emma Talbot21st Century Sleepwalk
Caustic Coastal, Salford, UK
21st Century Sleepwalk, a large-scale installation of new work by Emma Talbot across all three exhibition spaces and exterior at Caustic Coastal, presents thoughts on the epic nature of birth and death and the living sleepwalk in between.
In a wall of painted silk hangings occupying the length of the warehouse space, Talbot narrates the contemporary situation of a citizen in the 21st century and their psychological responses to the space of a regenerated city. This visual flow of thought is a reflection on life as a dreamlike experience, counterbalanced by three-dimensional works that position birth and death as fundamental physical experiences that we can’t ever remember.
