As he himself says, the concept of deception serves as the point of departure for his work. For an artist who celebrates perspectival illusion as much as he does, this comes as no real surprise. With considerable diligence, Nussbaumer constructs brilliant spatial illusions. Vanishing lines, lighting, and shadows precisely set down on paper produce convincing spatial depths, powerfully drawing in the eye.
