Maria Magdalena Z'Graggen

Maria Magdalena Z’Graggen is a painter who focuses on color, space and the installation context. Her binational (I/CH) background and upbringing made travel and living in foreign countries formative influences early on. Her work has been exhibited widely in Europe, North and South America and South Korea. Z’Graggen has been awarded grants and prizes by UBS Culture Foundation, Kunstkredit Basel-Stadt and Heinrich Danioth Art Foundation among others. She has been in residencies in the American Southwest, Cuba and Argentina. From 2009 – 2015 Z’Graggen was lecturer at the Institute of Art at FHNW Academy of Art and Design Basel. Recent shows include "¿Quien esta donde?" at Villa Renata, Kunsthalle Basel and at Stadtkino Basel "Lichtblicke" a screening of selected films and videos. "Wet Paint!" at SKLAD in Sukhum/i, Abkhazia, Liquid Planet: Abstract Painting Today at the Kunsthaus Baselland, "Alba Albula" at Anne Mosseri Marlio Galerie, "Dimension der Farben" with Patrick Rohner and Anja Braun at Trudelhaus Baden. Her works are in public collections including UBS Art Collection, Bank Julius Bär, F. Hoffmann-La Roche and the Anderson Museum of Contemporary Art, Roswell, USA. "Luminous Flux" a publication that provides an overview of Maria Magdalena Z'Graggen’s oeuvre from the beginning of her career around 1992 until the present day was published 2016 by Verlag für Moderne Kunst, Wien.
